“Know how to be YOUR best at any audition!”
SFBAC NATS sponsors a free public event master class with mezzo-soprano Laura Brooks Rice and Dr. Christopher Arneson, of the voice faculty at Westminster Choir College of Rider University and co-directors of its CoOPERAtive Program, a young artist program for singers.
Renowned vocal pedagogue, Miss Rice also teaches courses in opera: The Singing Actor: Opera and Opera Auditions: Techniques and Preparation, and is a consultant to the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Program and the Domingo-Cafritz Program with the Washington Opera. She is on the steering committee for the Singer Training Council under the auspices of Opera America.
Dr. Arneson, a voice trainer and vocologist, is chair of the NATS Pedagogy Curriculum Committee and has recently published articles in the NATS Journal of Singing: Teaching Teachers and Performance Anxiety: A 21st Century Perspective, and teaches classes in vocal repertoire and applied pedagogy for New York Singing Teachers Association’s (NYSTA) professional development program.
We would like to present two singers in each of three categories: high school, college (including graduate students), and post collegiate /other. There will be three alternates.
Please submit your nominations to our VP Programs, Aleicia Byrnes. Please include your name, the singer’s name, age and category for which you are nominating them, and the title and composer of the music they are interested in singing. Please send your nominationas as soon as possible as the participants will be announced by mid-December.
