Teaching Philosophy
Method of Teaching - Vocal
I enjoy working with all ages and levels of singers, from “raw” beginners to highly trained professionals.  Everyone reviews the basics of good tone production by understanding the muscles involved in the process.

I teach all styles of singing, from belting to opera.  For these very different vocal productions, one needs to understand the muscular differences and practice the techniques for mastery.  Repertoire choices are generally up to the individual singer, but I frequently recommend songs that I feel are appropriate to the ability level.

If there is interest in performing, I address these skills as well, which include good communication and stage presence, in addition to microphone technique.

I love teaching and helping my singers to reach their fullest potential.

Method of Teaching - Conducting
I work with professional musicians that are interested in conducting an ensemble.  A clear and precise baton technique is emphasized, with attention to appropriate musical phrasing.  Advanced students have the opportunity to practice their skills with the choruses of SingersMarin.
